  • Dr. Tyra Davis


    Dr. Davis graduated from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and joined Hammond Animal Hospital and Pet Lodge soon after. Originally from New Iberia,  Dr. Davis moved to Baton Rouge to attend Southern University where she received her Bachelor Science degree before moving to Alabama to attend Veterinary School. Although not a resident of Hammond, Dr. Davis often refers to the Hammond Community as home due to the bond she has created with the community she serves.
    When not caring for her patients, Dr. Davis loves entertaining family and friends at her home. Dr. Davis, a trained percussionist, has a passion for art and music from across the world. She enjoys reading, cooking and watching HGTV.
    Dr. Davis is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Parishes Veterinary Medical Association, Baton Rouge Veterinary Medical Association, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Omega Tau Sigma Veterinary Fraternity. She was selected as the 2009 Emerging Leader for the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association. In July of 2014, Dr. Davis was chosen as a finalist for "America's Favorite Veterinarian". Selected from over 700 nominees, Dr. Davis finished in the "TOP TEN"!!!! 
    Dr. Davis is married and has one son, London, and a rescue cat, Saint Doris I. 

  • Dr. Laura Poirrier


    Dr. Laura L. Poirrier is a Louisiana native raised in Metairie, La. Her undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University earned her a B.S. in Animal Science. Dr. Poirrier earned her D.V.M. from L.S.U. in 2007. After graduation, she and her husband, Doug, moved to Covington, La., where Dr. Poirrier practiced before joining the staff at Hammond Animal Hospital and Pet Lodge. Dr. Poirrier has a passion for soft tissue surgery and internal medicine.

    Dr. Poirrier is a member of the American V.M.A., Louisiana V.M.A., Florida Parishes V.M.A., and Baton Rouge V.M.A.  Dr. Poirrier  has  two daughters Lillian "Lily" Elizabeth, and Allison "Allie" Jean and one dog, Zoe!

    In her spare time, Dr Poirrier enjoys spending time with her daughters, shopping, cooking, and making crafts.

    Client Services

    Cindy joined Hammond Animal Hospital as a receptionist in December 2001.  She and her husband Randy have three adult children and six grandchildren In their spare time Cindy & Randy enjoy traveling and spending quality time with their children and grandchildren. Cindy loves making our clients and patients welcome when they visit our practice. Cindy is our practice rescue liaison and has helped many relinquished and abandoned pets find forever homes.

    Animal Care Technician

    Kelsie joined the HAHPL team in January 2013 and completed Veterinary Technology at Northshore Technical College. In her spare time she enjoys horseback riding, and spending time with her love ones, especially her American Pitbull Terrier she calls Tansie. Tansie, who has no idea that she is a dog, is sweet as pie and loves everyone she meets. Kelsie grew up around animals and has always had a desire to care for them. She says that she is proud to play a small part in helping our patients live happy and healthy lives and is grateful for the opportunity work at Hammond Animal Hospital and Pet Lodge.

    Animal Care Assistant

    Jesi joined HAHPL in the Spring of 2017. She is currently studying Veterinary Technology at Northshore Community College. She loves horses and has a young son.

    Isabel is a Integrative Biology major at SELU. She hopes to one day pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine. In her spare time she enjoys reading, and caring for her tortoise "Atlas".
